Live Views From Baldy Are Back!

Earlier today, Gary, our VP of Engineering, worked his awesome magic and restored the SPRTV webcam located on Bald Mountain, after an outage while we changed broadband internet service providers. A few hours later, we are totally stoked that the live feed from Baldy is also back on our website! To see it, navigate to “For Fun” in the menu at the top of any page. Then select “Live From Baldy” from the drop down menu that appears. One caveat … Sorry, but because of the web technology we’re using with our webcam, the live view will very likely not display on your smartphone or tablet. But enjoy the views on any PC or Mac!

KUNC Off-Air in Front Range Due to Ft. Collins Wildfire

»Posted by on Jun 10, 2012 in Technical Difficulties | 0 comments

We’ve just received word from Neil Best, KUNC station manager, that “the High Park wildfire west of Fort Collins has taken KUNC off the air. Don’t know if it is just the power lines that are down or if the antenna and/or transmission line has been damaged. Fire started yesterday and is already over 8,000 acres.” KUNC is  broadcast on 88.1 and 88.7 in Summit County as part of the SPRTV’s family of FM stations; and has not been affected.  If an outage affecting Summit County were to occur, Summit County residents and visitors can also stream KUNC on-line here. FYI:  An update one hour ago from a Ft. Collins Coloradan reporter stated “The High Park Fire NW of Fort Collins exploded from nothing to 10,000 acres in less than 24...

KBCO Repairs Continue This Weekend

»Posted by on Feb 4, 2012 in Technical Difficulties | 0 comments

SPRTV is happy to report that Gary and his technical crew believe they are close to restoring FM station KBCO; with the station potentially going back on-the-air sometime this weekend. If successful, this would be the 4th visit up Baldy to repair the damage from high winds back in early January, that toppled a modular building and an antenna support tower. After 3 visits, Gary and his crew have been able to dismantle and move the damaged support tower, install a new temporary support tower,  remount the KBCO receiving antenna and point it towards Denver. The final repairs are purely electrical and not mechanical in nature, and will take place in the (undamaged) SPRTV electronics shack on Baldy. SPRTV again apologizes for any inconvenience, and would like to thank...

UPDATED … SPRTV is happy to announce that Gary, our VP of Engineering and Site Maintenance, and Colin, will attempt repairs to radio station KBCO this Sunday, Jan 29, weather and safe travel up Baldy permitting.
